Rotate PDF Pages and Save on Your Device

A sideways page is the most common fault in a home-made pack. Someone photographed a letter, or a scanner treated a landscape form as portrait. Everyone else then rotates a laptop. Fix it before you circulate the file.

Turning the view is not turning the file

Some readers let you rotate the display and leave the PDF unchanged. The next person opens the original and the page is sideways again. The rotate tool writes the rotation into the file and downloads a new PDF. Thumbnails update as you press Turn left or Turn right, in quarter turns. Turn all left and Turn all right apply the same quarter turn to every page, which is what you want when a whole batch came out the same wrong way. Select a few pages if only some of them are wrong.

A file can mix portrait statements and a landscape drawing. Rotate only the pages that need it. The page size is kept. Rotation is added to any rotation the file already stored, so a page that was already “turned right” is not reset and then turned again by accident. If you go too far, turn the other way, or use Undo.

Save, then open it somewhere else

Download the file. The suggested name is rotated.pdf. Open it in the reader you will actually use. Check the page you cared about and one page you did not mean to change. The original file on disk is not overwritten unless you choose the same name in the save dialog and confirm it.

There is no send step and no account. A sideways medical letter is still a medical letter. The proof panel applies here too. Cancel stops a long file and does not leave a half-written download. You can do this on a phone. Rotation is a button, so it does not depend on dragging. Large photo PDFs can still exhaust a phone’s memory. If the tool warns you, split the file, rotate the part you need, and merge afterwards.

Browsers that cannot run the tool show a short message naming what is missing. iOS 15 and older is not supported. You will see a notice and you can continue, but a large file is more likely to fail.

Check the file before you send it

Download the pack and open it on the same device. Read the cover, the contents page, and the first page of each section. Confirm the stamped numbers match the contents. Open the CSV beside it if a colleague needs the index in a spreadsheet. Only then send the pack by the route your process already uses: the company portal, the client’s secure room, or the email address in the instructions. Sending it there is a choice. Assembling it did not require a copy on someone else’s server.

If the proof panel lists a network request while the pack is built, stop and treat that as a fault. The expected count is zero. You can also switch the network off after the page has loaded and run the same steps. The worker does not need a connection to stamp numbers or write bookmarks.

InHousePDF is not a professional adviser and is not affiliated with a regulator or a professional body. The same buttons can prepare documents for a review, an audit, a submission, or a handover. The product does not decide which papers a process requires. You still follow the instructions you were given.

Before you bind the pack

Rotate first, then merge, or rotate inside the pack builder before you download. If you rotate after you have already circulated a numbered file, the numbers rotate with the page, which is what you want visually, but anyone who saved the old file still has the sideways copy. Replace that copy. Tell colleagues the new file name.

A whole scanner batch that is upside down needs two quarter-turns, or Turn all right twice. The thumbnail should show the text upright before you download. If the thumbnail and another reader disagree, trust the other reader and turn the page again. Report this is available if a normal PDF comes out wrong. You will see the report, which does not include the file, before anything is sent.
