How to Reorder or Remove PDF Pages Privately
Reordering feels too small to be a privacy problem. A website that rearranges pages still has to receive every page in order to send them back. Removing a page has the same shape: the whole file goes up, and a shorter file comes down. This page is how to do both on the device that already has the PDF, without that copy.
“Privately” here means the bytes are not posted to a server. The page can still download its own program the first time you open it. After that, adding a file and downloading the result should add nothing to the network log. The proof panel counts those requests. File names appear on screen because you need to see which scan you moved. They are not placed in an analytics event. There is no account.
Move pages
Open Reorder PDF pages. Add one PDF, or several if the new order mixes documents. Each file lists its pages. Move file up and Move file down shift that document as a block. Up and Down on a single page move that page one step, including across documents if a page belongs somewhere else. Dragging works with a mouse. On a phone, trust the buttons. They stay large enough to hit, and dragging is unreliable on many small screens.
The order on screen is the order in the download. Check it before you save. A swapped statement is cheap to fix now and expensive after someone has cited a page number. The longer walk-through of the same buttons is reorder PDF pages on your device.
Remove pages
Delete removes the page from the result. It does not edit the original file on disk unless you later save over that name and confirm it. Undo puts the page back. Use delete for a blank reverse, a duplicate scan, or a cover sheet that should not travel with the extract.
If you are in the merge tool instead, Manage Individual Pages does the same job with a range. Include keeps the pages you type, such as 1-3, 5, 8-10. Exclude drops that range and keeps the rest. Numbers start at 1. A single range is enough when the pages you want are already together. Delete is clearer when the pages are scattered and you can see the thumbnails.
Taking a middle section out as its own file is a split, not a reorder. Split a PDF in the browser writes one PDF for a single range, or a ZIP when there are several ranges or when every page is saved alone. Open the ZIP on your device. You can then merge PDFs without uploading them if those extracts need to sit with other documents.
What does not change
Numbers already printed on a letter stay printed. Moving page 4 to the front does not rewrite “Page 4 of 12” inside the scan. A reader who cites the printed number and a reader who cites the PDF page index will disagree until you stamp a new sequence. Stamping is a separate step in the pack builder. Build an indexed PDF pack when you want a cover, a contents list, bookmarks, and numbers that match the new order. Finish the reorder first. The contents page is generated from the order you leave in the list. If you stamp and then delete, the sequence has a gap unless you stamp again.
Rotation is also separate. A sideways page stays sideways when you move it. Rotate PDF pages privately before you treat the order as final. The thumbnail on that page should show the text upright before you download.
Check the file, and the limit
Download and open the PDF on the same device. Walk the pages in the new order once. Then read the proof panel. The expected request count is zero. You can switch the network off after the page has loaded and repeat the download. How to combine PDFs offline describes that check.
The size limit is the total of what you added, and it exists so the tab does not run out of memory. A phone, or a browser that reports under 4 GB, warns above 15 MB or 80 pages and refuses above 40 MB or 2,500 pages. A laptop that does not report memory warns above 32 MB or 400 pages and refuses above 80 MB or 8,000 pages. A computer that reports 8 GB or more warns above 64 MB or 1,000 pages and refuses above 160 MB or 20,000 pages. There is no paid tier. If a phone refuses a long scan, split it, reorder the part you need, and merge afterwards.
Password-protected files are refused. Unlock them on your device. The password is not stored. A damaged file stops with a plain error. Nothing is uploaded in order to repair it.
When you do send the result, send the file you just checked, through the channel the recipient already uses. Reordering it did not require a copy on someone else’s server. InHousePDF does not decide which order a process requires. Follow the instructions you were given.
Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. The PDF is read and processed in this browser. It is not posted to a server. While the file is built, the proof panel counts network requests. That count should be zero. With advertising off, the page is not allowed to connect to other sites.
Does it work offline?
The first visit needs a connection, so this site can download. After that, a service worker keeps a copy of the site on the device. That copy does not include your PDFs. You can open the tool again with no connection and work on files already on the device. If the browser has no service worker, the tool still works while you are online, but not offline. Assembly does not call a server either way.
Is there a size limit?
Yes. The limit keeps the tab from running out of memory, and it depends on the device. It applies to the total size and page count of everything you have added. A phone, or a browser that reports under 4 GB of memory, warns above 15 MB or 80 pages, and refuses the job above 40 MB or 2,500 pages. A laptop or desktop that does not report memory, or reports from 4 GB up to but not including 8 GB, warns above 32 MB or 400 pages, and refuses the job above 80 MB or 8,000 pages. A computer that reports 8 GB or more warns above 64 MB or 1,000 pages, and refuses the job above 160 MB or 20,000 pages. There is no paid tier that raises the limit.
