How to Merge PDFs Without Uploading Them

A merge website usually asks you to upload the PDFs, joins them on a server, and gives you a download link. That puts a copy of the file somewhere you cannot watch. This page is the other way: the join happens in the browser you already have open, and the bytes of the PDF are not posted anywhere.

“Without uploading” means a specific thing. Loading this website the first time downloads the page, the styles, and the scripts. Those requests are the same for every visitor. They are not your document. After the page is open, choosing a file reads it from your disk into the tab. The proof panel on the tool counts network requests that start while the file is assembled. The expected count is zero. You can also open the browser’s Network panel, add a file, and download. If you see a request about the size of your PDF, or a request to another domain, stop and treat that as a fault.

Open the merge page

Use Merge PDFs without uploading them. The same join is on the private PDF merger page. Both run the program from this site. There is no account and no email address to type before the tool will work.

Add the PDFs with Choose files, or drop them on the dashed area. Each file shows its name, its page count, and a thumbnail, so you can see you picked the right scan. The suggested download name is merged.pdf. Change it in the save dialog if the matter needs a clearer name. Page sizes stay as they were. Rotation already stored in a file is kept. Bookmarks inside the originals are not copied into the simple merge. If you need a new contents page and new bookmarks, build an indexed PDF pack instead. The pack builder can also stamp a Bates-style prefix.

Put the pages in the order you want

Move a whole document up or down, or open its pages and move one page. Up and Down work from the keyboard. Dragging is optional. Turn a sideways scan before you download, in quarter turns. The thumbnail shows the new direction. Rotation is written into the file, not only into the preview.

Manage Individual Pages is the group for keeping or dropping pages inside one file. Include keeps the range you type. Exclude drops that range and keeps the rest. Numbers start at 1 and match the list on screen. A blank back of a letter, or a duplicate scan, can come out here without a second program. Undo puts a deleted page back. If you only need a few pages as their own file, it is often clearer to split a PDF in the browser first and then merge the extract.

Photographs need to be saved as PDF on your device before you add them. This page does not turn a JPEG into a PDF. Password-protected files are refused with a plain message. Unlock them on your own computer. The password is not saved and is not sent. A damaged file produces an error you can read before anything leaves the tab.

Check the limit, then the proof

There is a size limit, and it is about memory, not a price. It applies to the total of everything you have added. A phone, or a browser that reports under 4 GB, warns above 15 MB or 80 pages and refuses the job above 40 MB or 2,500 pages. A typical laptop that does not report memory warns above 32 MB or 400 pages and refuses above 80 MB or 8,000 pages. A computer that reports 8 GB or more warns above 64 MB or 1,000 pages and refuses above 160 MB or 20,000 pages. A warning still lets you try. A refusal stops the job so the tab does not crash. Split a large set into parts if you hit it. There is no paid switch that raises the number.

Download the PDF and open it on the same device before you send it anywhere. Read the first page of each document you added. Then look at the proof panel. Zero requests means the assembly did not talk to a server. You can switch the network off after the page has loaded and run the same steps. That check is described again in how to combine PDFs offline.

When a portal or a client does need the finished file, send that finished file through the channel they already gave you. You do not need to upload the drafts to an unrelated merge site on the way. Merge PDFs without sending them anywhere is the same claim, written as a check you can repeat. InHousePDF is not a professional adviser. It does not decide which papers a process requires.

Questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. The PDF is read and processed in this browser. It is not posted to a server. While the file is built, the proof panel counts network requests. That count should be zero. With advertising off, the page is not allowed to connect to other sites.

Does it work offline?

The first visit needs a connection, so this site can download. After that, a service worker keeps a copy of the site on the device. That copy does not include your PDFs. You can open the tool again with no connection and work on files already on the device. If the browser has no service worker, the tool still works while you are online, but not offline. Assembly does not call a server either way.

Is there a size limit?

Yes. The limit keeps the tab from running out of memory, and it depends on the device. It applies to the total size and page count of everything you have added. A phone, or a browser that reports under 4 GB of memory, warns above 15 MB or 80 pages, and refuses the job above 40 MB or 2,500 pages. A laptop or desktop that does not report memory, or reports from 4 GB up to but not including 8 GB, warns above 32 MB or 400 pages, and refuses the job above 80 MB or 8,000 pages. A computer that reports 8 GB or more warns above 64 MB or 1,000 pages, and refuses the job above 160 MB or 20,000 pages. There is no paid tier that raises the limit.
